Golden Jubilee Science Congress 2014 being organised by the Andhra Pradesh Akademi of Sciences (APAS) will begin in Hyderabad from Nov-13. Center for Cellular and Molecular Biology (CCMB) and Indian Institute of Chemical Technology (IICT) are supporting the three-day event.
APAS was established in 1963 and the Congress is a part of its golden jubilee celebrations. CCMB director Ch Mohan Rao said that founding members and past presidents of the Akademi will be honoured during the event.
A key lecture will be delivered by Vishwa Mohan Katoch, Director General, Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR) during the inaugural function.
He said that a Children’s Science Meet will also be organised during the event wherein 150 students from two Telugu states will take part. Overall, 500 delegates will take part during the three-day event.
He informed that as a result of the partition of Andhra Pradesh, the Akademi will soon be divided into AP Akademi of Sciences and Telangana Akademi of Sciences.
