The Group of Ministers meeting to check on the progress of state bifurcation process has concluded. The meeting was attended by Home Minister Sushil Kumar Shinde, Jairam Ramesh, Defense Minister AK Antony, others could not attend due to election related activity.
The meeting has decided to constitute a five member committee to decide the new capital for Seemandhra. The committee will be announced next week. The final decision on the capital will remain with the new government to be formed. The committee, along with other 18 committees already formed taking care of various aspects of state division, will submit reports by the end of March, said Jairam.
The Krishna, Godavari water boards will be constituted by the Center, the water allocation will be determined based on Brijesh Tribunal recommendations. The issue of new High Court entirely depends on the Supreme Court decision. The GoM will meet again next week, explained Jairam Ramesh about the events of the meeting.
