Google emerges World’s Top Brand toppling Apple

top-cmps1The Millward Brown’s 2014 Top 100 Brandz report, one of the most valued assessment reports has stated that Apple is no longer the most valued Brands of the World, the spot now goes to Google! Google, has improved it’s brand value quite significantly now, by adding 40% to it within the year to clock US$ 158 to reach the top spot. Apple, the iPhone, MacBook, iTunes etc, company has lost a significant 20%, is valued at US$ 147 to claim 2nd spot in the list.

The tech companies, compared to product companies are faring better, says the research company. The tech companies like Tencent, Facebook and Baidu have grown by 97%, 68% and 48 $ respectively, where as product companies like Samsung, HP and Sony have limited growth at 21%, 19% and -1% in Sony’s case!

“The brands that don’t play in fixed boundaries are the ones that are doing the best,” Oscar Yuan, VP, Millward Brown said about the present list. “No one sees Google as a search company anymore, Google has a number of businesses, but their “larger commitment” is to organize information,” Yuan explained.

Food and Beverages companies MacDonald and Coca Cola feature at 5 and 6 in the list. “McDonald’s is definitely known for fast food, but more recently brought the notion of sharing — creating more opportunities for people to connect and share,” Yuan said. The company not only markets its french fries as a menu you can share, but it has marketed its McCafes and free wi-fi, “encouraging people to savor, sit, chat and connect — beyond just grabbing your food and going.” Coca Cola “owns the space of happiness,” encouraging customers to engage and associate with the brand in a unique way.

Twitter and LinkedIn are the new entrants to the list, placed at 15 and 17.

6) SAP:                    US $ 36 billion

9) Samsung:           US $ 25 billion

10) Oracle:             US $ 21 billion
