GPS to Restrict Illegal Transport of Fine Rice: GOVT

riceTo prevent illegal transport of fine rice to be supplied for fair price shops and social welfare hostels government has proposals to use global position system (GPS) and biometrics process.

In Khammam district, nearly 20,000 tonnes of fine rice will be issued to the fair price shops and hostels. And lots of demand for fine quality rice in other states and there is every prospect of misuse of the rice.

There were some proofs that hundreds of tonnes of rice, supplied through FP shops, transported to other states by the traders. Approximately 95 such cases are under probe in the district.

An exact plan has been emerged to check misuse of it by keeping vigil from the godowns of Food Corporation of India (FCI) from where fine rice would be supplied to the beneficiaries.

Each and every rice carrying lorry GPS devices will be fixed and connected to an online system. The vigilance cell would keep track of the lorries carrying rice to the fair price shops and hostels.
