Half of the Indians turning into netizens soon, surpassing US: Google India

lap1India will surpass America in net users by the end of the year. According to Rajan Anandan, managing director Google India, by the end of 2018 India will have 500 million internet users. “By 2018, India will have twice the number of online users in America. Almost half of the Indian population gets connected with Internet,” he said while addressing “Digitalizing India” organized by FICCI woman wing at Delhi. According to him, past ten years India’s netizens count increased to 100 million from 10 million.
In India, five million new users are adding to internet every month. “Lot of people discussed about the 2014 general elections through online, this shows how urban India mobilized using internet. In 2014, 2.8 billion people across the world out of 7 billion connected with internet, it may increase to five billion soon,” he added. He also mentioned that software will affect traditional industries in future. He assumed that the next big thing that software can do is producing a driverless car.
