Harassed by husband and in-laws, wife of Kabaddi Champ ends life

kabaddi-champDown, depressed and severely abused by husband and his parents on several issues, wife of a national Kabaddi champion has ended her life in her home in Delhi.

Lalitha, the 27-year-old wife of Kabaddi player Rohit Chillar, who is representing the team Bengaluru Bulls team, died leaving a two-hour long audio message and a note in which she wrote: “I’m not strong enough to survive this, I have decided to quit.”

She was living alone as Mr Rohit ditched her and abused her. Her parents are living separately in another apartment. It was her father who found her hanging from the ceiling and informed to the police.

According to police, Lalitha alleges she was tortured for dowry, taunted and beaten by her husband and his family.

This was her second marriage. Her first one too ended in failure on the same lines, i.e. dowry harassment.

Rohit is in Mumbai. The 26-year-old kabaddi player joined the Navy in 2009 and was posted there.
