Hyderabad High Court has directed the Telangana government not to go ahead with the demolition of secretariat buildings for ten days. Following a petition filed by T Jeevan Reddy, Congress MLA, the Court has given a stay for ten days and asked it file a counter on it.
The Court however did not stop shifting of departments and staff to other buildings in the city, giving some relief to the government.
The Congress objected to the demolition saying crores of public money will be wasted as most of the buildings are newly-constructed and the government can continue functioning from there. It also stated that vaastu was said to be the main reason for construction of new buildings, which is highly objectionable.
Advocate General of Telangana has informed that ‘it is an administrative decision’ and accepted to file a counter in two weeks time. The court categorically said that it would stop immediate demolition and do not interfere in other matters such as transfer of employees and shifting of departments.
