Prime Minister Narendra Modi has condoled the death of veteran music composer M S Viswanathan. “The unfortunate demise of MS Viswanathan is a major loss to music lovers. People across generations enjoyed his compositions. When it came to music Viswanathan was always ahead of times. Condolences to his family and admirers,” the Prime Minister said.
Popular music director and ‘king of light music’ Kalaimamani Manayangath Subramanyan Vishwanathan breathed his last due to respiratory problem at a private hospital in Chennai. Born in Palakkad in Kerala in 1928, he celebrated his birthday on June 24. For over five decades he mesmerized people with his music in Telugu and Malyalam films. MSV’s song in Devadasu film, ‘ jagame maaya ‘ won undying renown and remained in the hearts of Telugus. His songs in letha manusulu, Aakali rajyam, andamaina anubhavan, maro charitra are always remembered. Tamilnadu chief minister Jayalalithaa honoured him with title ‘cine sangitha chakravarthy’.
