Head on collision of metro rails during trial run

metro-railsTwo Delhi Metro trains collided in a freak accident at the Kalindi Kunj depot on the yet-to-open Botanical Garden to Janakpuri West line.

The new trains, which are equipped with advanced anti-collision technology, collided on Friday during commissioning at the depot on Line 8, which is slated to become operational next year .

“An incident occurred on Friday at 3:45 pm at Kalindi Kunj depot of Line 8, in which a train, which was under complete control of Hyundai Rotem for commissioning, was moved perhaps inadvertently in reverse direction by the Rotem staff,” said Anuj Dayal, Delhi Metro Rail Corporation spokesperson.
No one was injured but the trains were damaged in the incident.
