High Court Refuses to Interfere Into News Channel Ban Issue

‘Media’ a so-called ‘pillar’ of ‘Democracy’ has come down to its knees on Saturday when the Andhra Pradesh High Court has refused to interfere in any issue related to ‘unsolicited’ ban News Channels in Telangana.

The Andhra Pradesh High Court, in an order released by a bench of judges, says that it won’t interfere with the matter of dropping the Broadcast of ABN Channel. Earlier, a single-judge bench had the passed the same ruling which is now supported by this bench.

High Court sorted out this issue by saying it a private affair and it has no way to issue orders to REET for non-governmental bodies.

Two top Telugu News Channels, ABN and TV9 have to face a ‘un-declared’ ban from several months in the newly formed state of Telangana.

Responding to a protest by the journalists in Hyderabad in the last month, K Chandrasekhara Rao, Chief Minister, had said ‘I will bury the media 10 km inside if they attempt to harm the culture and history of Telangana’.
