Hike In The Cost Of School Textbooks In State

v6Hyderabad: As the cost of paper increased, the school text books in the state are likely to become more cherished. And the government set to cancel publishing contracts as they informed as per the law of department which paves the way for the government to bring the new tenders. Hence, the prices are likely to rise by about 5 to 10 % although the exact number would be known only after the completion of tender process.
As the publishers and printers to scrap the existing contracts and grant them only to those from the state as four of the five existing contract holders in AP. JAC Convener Kodandaram had inclined for granting textbooks to local publishers.
Nearly 60 lakh textbooks are sold in the open market and 3 crore are printed every year. The legality of cancelling the existing contracts should be considered.
The officials said that the formal orders are issued soon by the government as the law of department has given a go-head. The official said that the prices may increase from 5 to 10%
