HMDA to Complete Project Much Before Deadline

HMDAThe Hyderabad Metropolitan Development Authority had taken up the Hussainsagar Lake and Catchment Area Improvement project with Official Development Assistance loan of Rs 370 Crore from Japan International Cooperation Agency and another Rs 60 Crore from the state share in the year 2006-07.

The officials informed that the HMDA has used Rs. 245 Crore on construction of sewerage facilities so far and the remaining 125 Crore is allocated for ‘interception and diversion’ structures on the Necklace Road.

The officials are confident that most of the work would be completed by March 2015, while the actual deadline to complete the project is July 2016.

The projects include construction of Three STPs (Sewage Treatment Plant) of 30 MLD at Picket nala, 20 MLD at Balkapur nala and five MLD at Rangadhamini lake, I&D structures at Fatehnagar, Prakashnagar and Necklace Road, 1,600-mm diametre ring main (connecting structure) from Kukatpally nala to Buddha Bhavan.

The other projects include 1,400-mm diametre ring main at Balanagar trunk main in Kukatpally catchment area.
