Home Minister meets CM, takes stock of flood situation in J-K

Rajnath-SinghTo take stock of the flood situation in Jammu and Kashmir, Home minister Rajnath Singh held a meeting with chief minister Omar Abdullah on Saturday.

Singh, who arrived on Saturday morning, went straight into the technical area of the airport and held a meeting with the chief minister. The discussion was held to take steps of the worst floods in the state in six decades.

After the meeting Omar himself drove Singh through the Srinagar city which is witnessing heavy rainfall since morning.

The home minister is scheduled to conduct an aerial survey in the affected districts before proceeding to Jammu. He will undertake a similar exercise in the flood affected areas of Rajouri and Poonch districts in Jummu. He will be accompanied with minister of state in PMO Jitendra Singh.

The home minister is also accompanied by additional director general of National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) and secretary (border management) Snehlata Kumar.
