Union Home Secretary Anil Goswami called up a meeting with the chief secretaries of Telangana and Andhra Pradesh to broker peace but the effort failed miserably as none of the major issues could be resolved. The meeting was attended by IYR Krishna Rao, Chief Secretary of Andhra Pradesh and Rajiv Sharma, Chief Secretary of Telangana.
Rajiv Sharma insisted that the Krishna River Board should not issue orders to the state government. IYR Krishna Rao raised the voice with the Centre to implement Section-8 of the AP Reorganisation Act while Rajiv Sharma registered a protest against AP’s demand. Rajiv Sharma argued that it is not possible to make Section-8 operative as the matter lies with the Centre.
The Section-8 of Andhra Pradesh Reorganisation Bill 2014 deals with the special responsibility of the Governor to protect the residents of the common capital i.e. Greater Hyderabad.
The chief secretaries also met Pratyush Sinha to urge to divide the AIS officers between the two states. Later, they also met the members of Kamalanathan Committee to discuss the distribution of gazetted officers.
