How best to eat chicken and not feel unhealthy

Untitled-3Don’t we always crave for that tasty chicken dish and give into it, before wallowing in guilt. And then decide to never ever touch the meat. And the cycle continues.
Surprisingly, it is not necessary that chicken needs to be cooked the unhealthy way. In fact, it can be the most protein-rich food without actually adding on to the calories.
To begin with, chicken has much less cholesterol and saturated fat than the red meat. Whatever fat the chicken has, is in the skin, so just remove it and you have the healthy protein-rich meat ready. However, it is also important to use the right cooking procedure to ensure that it stays this way.
The cooking oil you add during the making of chicken is also adding additional calories. Hence, use oil sparingly. Those who like it the western way can drizzle a bit of olive oil on slices of chicken; grill it and sprinkle some crushed pepper, chilli flakes and bit of salt.
Baking it in the oven is the healthiest way of cooking chicken. Rub a little olive oil to the pan, put chicken pieces along with veggies like carrots, capsicum, lemon and a lot of garlic, and bake at 350 degrees until it gets this nice brown colour.
For the Indian palate – you can marinate the chicken with curd, spices, chilli powder, salt etc, use a shallow non-stick pan and put very little oil (the non-fatty one) and fry the chicken on all sides until nice brown. It is yummy when have it just like that or as a side dish to your favourite rasam or sambar.
Hundreds of recipes are available online that allow you to relish your chicken the healthy way. Now, you can have the chicken and eat it too.
