On Thursday, The Joint Action Committee of Badi Chowdi, Sultan Bazaar and Koti traders took part in a hunger strike to protest the proposed change in the Metro Rail route at Badi Chowdi.
If the Metro Rail route follows the recommended alignment Over 170 shops will be decimated and four buildings will have to go.
“Since the past three months we have been requesting Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao to sit with us and understand our problems. The government is not willing. For the MIM, the state changed the alignment by seven kilometers. We are only asking for change of one km” said Govind Rathi of the TJAC. He further added, “There should be an official communication from the govt to the HMR on the recommended route and no legal recourse can be taken in further. To put forth their point through agitation decided traders.”
