Telangana Director General of Police Anurag Sharma told reporters that “Following the last night’s incident in Bengaluru, we have alerted everybody. We are vigilant. We are ensuring that checking and other security measures are stepped up. We are monitoring the activities.”
Asked if any security precepts were issued to schools here after the Peshawar school massacre in Pakistan, “We are trying to sensitise all the schools to be careful and (telling them) do not let outsiders enter,” said Sharma.
He said, “It is definitely not possible to provide a policeman or armed policeman to guard every school in the city. So, need-based and information-based (provision of security) and sensitisation the people, this kind of protection we are trying to envisage.”
He said police were aware, and even otherwise the entire force is on a stand-by during the New Year celebrations.
To react immediately to any such impasse situation, “We have already been keeping our teams (armed interceptor teams in vehicles) at vulnerable points,” He added.
