Drunken hawks usually land in trouble as the traffic cops block their way and slap hefty fines. To avoid accidents and reach home safely after partying with friends and relatives, app-based cab service Uber offers a solution. It can take you to your home safely after the party.
Uber has partnered with the Mumbai traffic police to curb drunk driving by installing ‘Uber breathalysers’ at bars, malls, star hotels and pubs in the city.
“Uber breathalyser is a kiosk that analyses alcohol content in a person’s blood and accordingly flashes a red light, if it’s over the legal limit, and a green light, if it’s safe for the person to drive.
If the reading is over the legal limit, a message is displayed on the screen that helps the person request an Uber home, instead of driving” according to a report in PTI.
The person can click yes and go home safely. This campaign aims to build awareness against drunken driving, according to Shailesh Sawlani, GM, Uber Mumbai.
