Illegal Buildings May be Provoked by Land Regularisation

Illegal-BuildingsStrange situation will edge when illegal buildings endure on regularised lands. The Govt is handling regularisation of lands on which buildings currently exist. . The buildings existing on such lands will be treated as illegal buildings on which we need to regularise again.

In first stage from the same applicants in the name of regularisation of illegal lands and from second stage the Building Regularisation Scheme (BRS) like that the cash-starved govt has made its intentions clear of earning “double revenues”.

After completion of LRS process the GHMC will be asked to come out with a BRS later. As per existing norms, the regularisation will be free for 125 sq. Yards for the poor whose annual income is less than Rs 2 lakh.

50 per cent of the market value will be collected from 125 to 250 sq. yards, 75 per cent of market value for 250 to 500 sq. Yards and 100 per cent market value will be collected plots admeasuring over 500 sq. Yards.

Interestingly, thousands of people have intruded on lands in the city in the range of 300 sq. yards, to 1,000 sq. yards but no buildings exist on them. Only single rooms or small sheds have been built on those lands. This has now proved to be an advantage for them to secure the entire land under this pretext.
