Independence day celebrations in Golconda fort

Chief Minister KCR asked Chief Secretary Rajiv Sarma and DGP Anurag Sharma to visit the Golconda fort on Monday to explore the possibilities of conducting the independence day parade. KCR meeting held on Sunday at the residence of TRS MP Dr K. Kesava Rao (KK), attended by many senior TRS leaders, ministers, It is decided to exhibit the different programs on history of Telangana and cultural grandeur of the state, said a statement from the chief minister’s office. The chief minister welcomed suggestions and advices from the intellectuals of Telangana in this regard. In the united Andhra Pradesh, the Independence Day and Republic Day were always held in Parade Grounds in Secunderabad.

Golkonda fort has historical importance in Telangana. Built during Kakatiya dynasty (1083-1323), the mud fort was expanded and developed into granite fort during the Qutub Shahi kingdom. It served as the capital of Qutub Shahi kingdom till 1590, then the capital was shifted to Hyderabad.
