India boycotts Speakers’ meet in Pak

pakIndia has boycotted the proposed Speakers’ conference to be held in Islamabad in Pakistan from September 30 to October 8. Pakistan government has invited all the Speakers in India except Speaker of Jammu and Kashmir. Lok Sabha Speaker Sumithra Mahajan made clear she will attend the meet only if J & K Speaker Kavinder Gupta is also invited to the meet. The Parliament took the invitation seriously and expressed ire stating that Pakistan’s stand was against the rules of Common Wealth Parliamentary Association. Further, the House made it clear that India will attend the Pak national security advisors’ meeting on August 23 and 24. Nearly 403 representatives from 53 countries would attend the meeting and discuss various issues including development and clean administration. Pak National Assembly secretariat made clear that there was no point in inviting the J & K Speaker and that the decision to attend the meeting was left to India. Pak also further stated that they were totally endorsing the slogan for separate Kashmiris and demanded a solution for Kashmir as per UNO resolutions.
