With an aim to focus on counter-insurgency and counter-terrorism tactics, neighboring countries India and China have planned for a joint “Hand-in-Hand” army exercise next month in Pune. Tne initiation has been taken weeks after the troops from both the countries had to face a stand-off across the International Border around Ladakh.
The annual exercise began in 2007 when joint army meet was held in Kunming in China in December. The next year, a similar exercise was held in December in Belgaum. In 2013, after a gap of five years, the exercise again held China’s Chengdu area. This year, the exercise will be held in Pune beginning in the mid-November.
This exercise aims at exploring useful experiences, advancing pragmatic cooperation and promoting a friendly environment between the two armies.
