India-China sign 3 deals within hours of Xi’s visit

India-ChinaSoon after the arrival of Chinese President Xi Jinping in Ahmedabad on Wednesday, both the nations inked three pacts within hours.

Xi has been accompanied by his wife Peng Liyuan and a delegation of senior party and government officials. He was received by Gujarat Governor O P Kohli and Chief Minister Anandiben Patel and other senior state Cabinet ministers. He was honoured with a red-carpet welcome.

The deals that were signed today between the two most populous nations in the world, include sister city pact between Guangzhou in China and Ahmedabad and setting up of an industrial park in the state.

The visit of Chinese President is aimed at boosting trade and investments, besides discussing substantive issues including the contentious border dispute between the two countries.

Xi, along with Modi paid a visit to Sabarmati Ashram on the first day of his visit.

Modi will host a dinner in Xi’s honour in Ahmedabad today. Later, the two heads of their nations will once again meet in New-Delhi on Thursday.
