With India opting to bat, opener K.L.Rahul failed to give the required start needed as he departed early. He was bowled by Ahmed in the first over with just two runs on the board.
Incoming batsman Pujara and opener Vijay then forged an unbeaten 84-run partnership to steady the fort for the hosts.
Vijay’s 71-ball knock was laced with six fours while Pujara slammed four boundaries.
