The state branches of Indian Medical Association or IMA will be bifurcated by the end of December. The two new bodies in Andhra Pradesh and Telangana will be announced in the national council meeting of IMA in Ahmedabad scheduled later in December.
IMA appointed Dr. M Yadagiri Rao as the secretary for activities related to Telangana. Dr. Rao will coordinate with the headquarters of IMA to form the new body in Telangana.
The information was revealed through an official release of IMA.
The demand to form a separate branch of IMA in Telangana was raised during the national conference held at Warangal in 2012. The IMA had promised to distribute the branches to create new for Telangana.
A resolution was unanimously passed in IMA in July 2014 to take the step forward to bifurcate the body.
