Inflation falls 0.91% in Feb

Wholesale Price Index Inflation has dropped by 0.91% in February, the 16th straight month since November 2014.

Drop in prices of food items and petroleum products kept this deflationary trend which was (-)2.17 per cent a year ago. It was (-)0.9 per cent in January.

Food inflation stood at 3.35 per cent in February compared with 6.02 per cent in January.

As the inflation has nosedived, the industry stepped up its demand for an interest rate cut by Reserve Bank in its first bi-monthly monetary policy for 2016-17 on April 5.
