In Hyderabad, the Telangana state is having shortage of IPS officers. It is planning to ask the Centre for an increase in their allotment. Central deputation already has 8 IPS officers in Telangana out of 92. Around 25 IPS officers are needed in Hyderabad and Cyberbad commissionarates.
While 18 senior IPS officers are placed at the TS police headquarters in Hyderabad and the remaining in other departments.
They need IPS officers in specialized wings like intelligence, elite forces, CID, ranges and districts.
Several IPS officers are on deputation to Central services. The services of DGP-rank officers Navneet Rajan Wasan of the 1980 batch, who worked for the CBI and NIA, and K. Durga Prasad of 1981 batch were removed as the SPG director are available.
IPS officers Vinayak P. Apte, Shika Goel , Ritu Mishra , Devendra Singh Chowhan , Akun Sabharwal (2001) and additional DGP Umesh Sharaf have opted for the Central deputation at the NPA for the next 4 years.
As there is a shortage senior officer are handling 2 to 3 departments of IPS officials in TS after assessing requirement may soon ask the Centre for more IPS officials.
