It’s a dream of many actors in the world to act in a movie directed by the legendary Steven Spielberg. They crave for even a cameo. But not Irrfan Khan, who stunned everyone to reject an offer to act in the upcoming flick of Spielberg- ‘Ghost in the Shell’. The reason was: he found not enough meat to explore himself as an actor.
“I felt the character did not have much to offer to display my histrionic abilities. Hence, I said no… Else who wouldn’t want to work with Steven Spielberg?” Irrfan said in a statement.
He was offered a brief role opposite Scarlet Johnson.
But he said it is unfair to say that I turned down the offer. It is a crude and uncouth way of presenting the things. Since the role is not enthusiastic, I preferred not to act. That’s it, he explained.
Irrfan acted in two Oscar-winning films- “ The Slumdog Millionaire” and “Life of Pi”
But rejection of big ticket movies is not new to Irrfan. Earlier, he declined Ridley Scott, (first for Body Of Lies (2008) and then for The Martian (2015)), Christopher Nolan’s masterpiece Interstellar (2014).
