Islam ‘no’ to terror, PM told

sufiA team of 40 Barelvi Sufi scholars met Prime Minister Narendra Modi and said terrorism in the name of Islam represents a danger to global peace and there is an urgent need to marginalize the forces promoting “Jihad” for economic or political considerations. Islam does not preach hatred or extremism, they said. There is a need to spread awareness among Muslims that ISIS and Al-Qaeda, do not follow Islam. Modi said their ideology is an integral part of Indian ethos and has contributed to a pluralistic, multi-cultural society. He assured to look into Waqf assets and sought to promote their culture in all States. Sufis said some forces do not wish them to keep good ties with Modi and so far vote-banks forced Muslims to meet the Government via intermediaries. Now they want Modi to have direct contact with Muslims and urged him to work for development irrespective of caste or religion.
