The Congress has raised the Special Category Status to AP issue in Parliament today but failed to get any concrete assurance from the Centre. Raising the issue in Rajya Sabha, Ghulam Nabi Azad said two years have been elapsed since the formation of the state but the BJP has still not addressed the core issue of SCS. He read out the seven assurances given by the then Prime Minister Dr Manmohan Singh in the House of which SCS tops the list. Digvijay Singh who said it was Venkaiah Naidu and Arun Jaitley who went on record on that day saying the BJP is committed to SCS for at least ten years. KVP Ramachandra Rao said huge revenue deficit and also lack of capital have thrown AP people into untold misery. Arun Jaitley in his reply said the revenue deficit has already been met partly and the remaining will also be given in due course. He said several assurances have already been implemented and institutions have already been coming up. But he kept mum on the SCS issue.
