The party has been registered under Section 29A of the Representation of the People Act,1951 with effect from 24.11.2014. The party received registration number 56/118/2014/PPS-I dated 28.11.2014.

The party has applied for a single election symbol in Andhra Pradesh and Telangana for the local body election.
Jana Sena played a key role in the general elections 2014 as its chief Pawan Kalyan supported TDP-BJP tie up in the state and in the Centre.
