A significant 8,933 crores fund is provided to Delhi Metro Phase 3 by Japan today. This Official Development Assistance was signed by the Japanese ambassador Takeshi Yagi and India’s Joint Secretary in the Finance Ministry, Rajesh Khullar in Delhi. The Delhi Mass Rapid Transport System already covers 190 kilometers, the new third phase will add another 116 KMs to the stretch, the complete Delhi Metro length be almost 330 KMs.
Of the 15 thousand crores pledged, the highest ever by Japan to any country, rest of the funds would mostly cater to three areas – New and Renewable Energy; Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises energy saving; and Haryana Distribution System Upgradation.
Andhra Pradesh will get part of 1160 crores for wind power projects along with Karnataka and Gujarat. AP will get another 220 crores for solar power generation projects. The Indian Renewable Energy Development Agency will distribute about 18oo crores to various companies working in the field.
