AIADMK chief J Jayalalithaa is expected to take the oath of the office of chief minister of Tamilnadu on May 23, which has been considered auspicious for the swearing in ceremony. The party official spokesperson C R Saraswathy breaking the silence over the pending issue of oath taking ceremony announced it officially today.
The said swearing in ceremony would be held at a simple function at Madras city auditorium, which is being spruced up for the event. Prior to that Jaya will attend Anna DMK party meeting on May 23. She will step out of her home after a gap of none months rest.
She will be formally elected as the leader of the Anna DMK legislature party leader by the MLAs at the party meeting. The present chief minister Panneer Selvam is likely to resign as cm. It may be recalled here that she was accused by the CBI special court in the disproportionate assets case, which led to her resignation seven months back.
After she spent some days in the jail, the supreme court granted her bail.
Recently the Karnataka high court, quashing the orders of the lower court, acquitted Jaya. This has cleared the line for Jaya to assume the office of the chief minister. Recently, Vetrivel has resigned his MLA seat from Chennai R K Nagar constituency paving the way for Jaya to contest for the bye-election.
The return of their leader and her emergence with a clean chit from the court after a long gap has filled the activists of the party with happiness.
