Tamil Nadu CM Jayalalithaa Jayaram, who was convicted and sentenced for 4 years prison in disproportionate assets case, have been moved to an independent cell Barrack 23 in central jail Parappana Agrahara where she is now the prisoner number 7402.
Jayalalithaa had to go through a medical check up in the jail and her request to move to a private hospital has been rejected.
Amma’s lawyers had argued with the jail authorities that their client may face a life threat in the jail, but none of their arguments were entertained.
Jayalalithaa refused to take lunch soon after she was moved to the central jail.
“Madam came unprepared and we contacted the Tamil Nadu police intelligence wing to pack some clothes for her. We expect them to reach here later in the evening”, a police official from Tamil Nadu said.
The three close aides of Jayalalithaa, who were also sentenced by the special court, have been moved to different cells.
