Jitu Rai Wins First Gold for India in Asian Games; Akhilesh Announces Rs. 50 Lakh Reward

Untitled-1Ace Indian shooter Jitu Rai wrapped up a historic gold in the 50m Pistol event on the opening day of the 17th Asian Games at the Ongnyeon International Shooting Range, on Saturday.

Vietnam’s Nguyen Hoang Phuong had to settle for silver and China bagged the Bronze.

Jitu had recently won silver in world championship.

The Lucknow-base shooter receives an immediate second delight as the Chief Minister of Uttar Pradesh Akhilesh Yadav announced Rs. 50 Lakh cash reward to Jitu.

Akhilesh said in a statement, “Through his dedication, hard work and talent, Rai has put up a good show in the Asian Games and earned laurels for the country and state where he honed his skills for a long time,” the Chief Minister said in a statement. His feat would inspire the youth of the country to work hard and dedicatedly for achieving their goals”.
