Hyderabad: The Jawaharlal Nehru Technological University, has barred 143 engineering college for lack of faculty and infrastructure, some of its own constituent colleges are making do with temporary faculty. The undergraduate engineering colleges should have professors, associate professors in the ratio of 1:2:6.
They signed by principal R.Markandeya stated that the college had 1,141 students across six branches. Regular teaching staff was just four, among whom only two were professors and the other two were assistant professors.
A senior faculty member of JNTU, Manthani, said, “We have enough temporary faculties to satisfy the teacher to student’s ratio. But regular faculty hiring has been stalled because the test results have been held up in JNTU Kukatpally, since last year. Temporary teachers are in the assistant professor cadre.”
Principal M. Manzoor Hussain said, “Faculty from JNTU-Hyderabad come to our campus to teach. It is a very new college. It is quite close to the Hyderabad campus so they can come here, teach and go.”
