JNU probe panel submits report, recommends soft punishment

Kanhaiya-KumarThe High Level Probe Panel of Jawaharlal Nehru University has submitted its report on the incidents of February 9, which rocked the nation.

The academic suspension over eight students including Kanhaiya Kumar, president of students union, was already revoked. They can now resume studies, according to a report.

The panel has reportedly suggested some soft punishment measures for creating unrest in the campus for some days. They include slashing the scholarships, curbs on holding functions etc.

The varsity, however, clarified that it does not signify a clean chit to the students and that the final decision in this regard will be taken after examination of the report by the vice-chancellor.
