Director Shoojit Sircar of Vicky Donor and Madras Cafe has announced that he will make a film now on the life of pre independence footballer Sibdas Bhaduri, who led India barefooted against British players and won the IFA shield in 1911. Bhaduri was playing for Kolkata’s Mohun Bagan team.
Abraham, who is a footballer himself, who has already played a footballer on “Dhana Dhan Goal”, will play the title role. Abraham’s love for sports, especially foot ball is quite well known, as he has recently bought a league team also. Abraham and Sircar are both working on getting the details of the historical film right. The actor and director have worked together earlier and hope to revive the strength of their association this time too.
Abraham is also promoting the 2014 FIFA Brazil cup in India with the association of Sony Six channel.
Sircar was working till recently on “Red Carpet” to cast bengali film director Rituparno Ghosh in the lead role. The film has been shelved, said Sircar after the sad and untimely demise of Ghosh.
