On March 22, sunday, the ‘Go Heritage Run-warangal’ marathon is being organised by GoUNESCO, INTACH, kakaitya heritage Trust. The marathon will be conducted in the categories of 5 km and 116 km, but the organisers informed that based on the response they might also include 21 km race.
“We also expect financial incentives to locals through these runs. The finishers will get medals and certificates made of Cheriyal painting, a unique art form of Telangana. We are expecting a participation of around 350 runners from outside Warangal apart from the locals,” said Mr. Ajay at a pre-event press meet held in the city.
“These kinds of activities help people get exposed to monuments and cultures. A cultural programme consisting of Perini dance performance will be held on March 21 at the Thousand Pillar Temple. The sculptures on the temple premises depict this art form, which used to be practised by men before a war.”
