Kanhaiya Kumar, the JNU student leader, who was released on bail yesterday night, has stated that “none of the JNU students would ever resort to anti-national activities”. Speaking to media today, he said- “There is a conspiracy to malign JNU but I have full confidence that student community here would repulse such attempts and we have full faith in Indian constitution and system” .Thanking the media and teachers for their unstinted support during the crisis period, Kanhaiya said that- “I am a resident of India and not a terrorist. I equivocally condemn of ugly events happened on February 9 and at Patiala House court. Attempts to malign JNU are not new but we passed through the tests. There is every need to protect democracy. Constitution is not a video that can be doctored. We will fight for the unity of the country.. ultimately truth will prevail”
In a humble submission, Kanhaiya said he is not a leader but only a student. ‘ I will not speak on politics. I would not respond on the merits of the JNU case’ he said.
Stating that JNU represents voice of the nation, Kanhaiya made it clear that Afzal Guru is not his icon but Rohit Vemula is his icon.
