KCR: Assembly resolution soon to enhance reservations for BCs

kcrTelangana would like to go Tamil Nadu way in enhancing the reservations for the weaker sections, reiterated Chief Minister K Chandrasekhara Rao. He was speaking to the newly-appointed members of BC commission at the camp office on Thursday. “ 80% of Telangana people are from weaker sections and they very much need reservations. Tamil Nadu has increased percentage of reservations and sent it for Parliament approval. The Lok Sabha has approved it and incorporated it in ninth schedule. We want to do the same. The state Assembly would also pass a resolution shortly and send the same to the Centre for parliamentary approval” Mr Rao said. “We are committed to provide reservations to muslims. Without harming the interests of present castes under BC reservations, we will bring more communities under the net” he explained. Stating that half of Telangana population are of backward communities, the chief minister said, it is his government’s endeavour of not only lifting them and raising their living standards, but also bringing them into the modern sphere.
