Narrating his experiences as a people’s representative, Chief Minister K Chandrasekhara Rao has claimed that he is a constant learner. Addressing the three-day workshop of training classes for the newly-elected corporators of GHMC today at Pragathi Resorts on the outskirts of the city, he said- “ I don’t hesitate to learn.. I will go to any person, senior or junior and I will try to develop understanding on the matters that concern people”.
Walking down the memory lane, the Chief Minister said- “When I became MLA for the first time in 1980s, I was a novice on many issues. I went to a mandal-level meeting of sarpaches. I failed to understand anything. I then asked one Mr Ramulu, the MDO to enlighten me on the Panchayat Raj system and he explained me in good detail the intricacies of the system. He also suggested me to take a one-week crash course in NIRD (National Institute of Rural Development), an excellent institution on the PR. I did it and religiously attended all the classes for seven days and then I fully understood the nuances and inner details, the good, bad and ugly of the system. That was just for one department i.e. Panchayat Raj. What about other departments? I wrote district officers of various departments to let me know what I could do as MLA in Siddipet in various fronts, the requirements thereof. They promptly replied and I could attend on the people’s issues and finally resolved them. In the process, I became the most successful MLA of that period”
