Nominated as the V.C of the Southern Zonal Council
Telangana Chief Minister KCR is highlighted by the BJP led Government.
He is well known for facing criticism from Andhra Pradesh Government. Center not bothered about this issues and just ignored. Surprisingly KCR is to represent Andhra Pradesh from now.
KCR has been nominated as the Vice Chairman of the Southern Zonal Council by the Government of India. The Council comprises of the States of Andhra Pradesh, Karnataka, Kerala, Tamil Nadu and the Union Territory of Puducherry.
Home Minister Rajnath Singh will be the Chairman of the board. The Southern Zonal Council role is to act like mediator between State governments in South India and Centre.
Tamil Nadu Chief minister Jayalalitha was the Vice-Chairman for an year till 10 July, 2014 and KCR is nominated to succeed her, retrospectively, from 11 July, 2014 and his term will be for 1 year. The Vice-Chairman post is taken by rotation by all member states for 1 year.
Earlier Karunanidhi and Rosaiah holded the posts and now KCR got the opportunity to serve as Vice Chairman.
The nomination is interesting coming in the middle of visible bias of the centre in favor of AP ruled by ally TDP in all it’s issues against neighboring Telangana. CMs of states AP & Telangana are not on talking terms.
Question arises here is why Centre opted for KCR instead of Chandra Babu Naidu as he is close to Modi?
