KCR Told Officials to Revive Pending Townships

kcr-singapurThe Chief Minister of Telangana K Chandrasekhar Rao has determined to reinstate pending township on the lines of Singapore and Malaysia. The CM was impressed by the township of the two countries on his first foreign visit as CM.

KCR told officials that unless townships with all included facilities were developed on the city outskirts, it would not be possible to decongest the city as the interior of the city is already heavily congested.

People have to be motivated to move to city outskirts, otherwise the Metro Rail project will be of no use, he said.

A mega township was proposed at Tellapur spread over 400 acres, in 2007, at a project cost of Rs 2,000 crore for developing SEZ. In 2008, the project was brought to a standstill due to fall in the realty market.

A similar mega project of township was proposed in 2008, on 750 acres in Maheshwaram mandal but it was also halted.
