Kejriwal and three other AAP leaders put on trial by a Delhi Court

Arvind-KejriwalA Delhi Court on Saturday has put Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) chief Arvind Kejriwal, noted lawyer Prashant Bhushan and two others on trial on charges of defamation. The court was hearing the complaint filed by former union minister Kapil Sibal’s son Amit Sibbal.

Apart from Kejriwal and Bhushan, the Metropolitan Magistrate Sunil Kumar Sharma has framed the charges against AAP leader Manish Sisodia and former AAP leader Shazia Ilmi. The charges are framed under section 500 of Indian Penal Code.

The evidences will be recorded on January 17 next year.

The accused have been put on trial after they denied to plead guilty to the offence.

Amit Sibbal had alleged that the Aam Aadmi Party leaders have falsely claimed him of taking advantage of his father’s position to represent a telecom company in court cases in Delhi.
