Arvind Kejriwal, the AAP chief has stood on top of the Time Magazine’s list of 100 people who have influenced the world the most, for better or worse, in the last year. Narendra Modi came third, as world pop icon Katy Perry took the second spot. Other top ten rankers are singer Justine Bieber, actor Laverne Cox, actor Benedict Cumberbatch, singer Beyoncé, actor Jared Leto, actor Lupita Nyong’o, singer Lady Gaga and music duo Daft Punk.
Total 32 lakh odd votes were polled by the internet community across the world.The online poll saw fierce competition between Kejriwal and Modi. But Modi lost the poll as there were more number of ‘anti’ votes for him than ‘yes’ votes. Though Modi polled lot more votes than Kejriwal, 3 lakhs 30 thousand 832 in total, votes negating his nomination were a significant 1 lakh 66 thousand 260, more than the 1 lakh 64 thousand 572 votes supporting him.
Netterati polled Kejriwal 2 lakh 61 thousand 114 positive votes. He emerged winner based on the total positive votes being more than any other. Pakistani brave girl Malala Yousafzai stood 11th in the list. Whistle blower Edward Snowden was at fifteen. Rahul Gandhi too figured in the list, with about 37 thousand votes, he finally stood at 38th position. The list includes celebrity names like Meryl Streep, Bill Gates, Miley Cyrus, Pope Francis, Vladimir Putin, Shakira, Angela Merkel, Kim Kardashian, Barak Obama, Oprah Winfrey, Serena Williams, Li Na, Mark Zuckerberg, Larry Page, Satya Nadella etc.
