Kejriwal gets bail in the defamation case filed by Jaitley

A Delhi court today granted bail to Arvind Kejriwal, Chief Minister of Delhi in an anti-defamation case filed by Union Finance minister Arun Jaitley. Mr Kejriwal charged that Mr Jaitley is culpable in the graft that was allegedly a part of the administration of the Delhi and District Cricket Association. Mr Jaitley headed the association for 13 years till 2013. Jaitley strongly denounced the charges saying they are malicious and defamatory and slapped a Rs 10 cr suit against the Delhi CM. The court has fixed the next date of hearing for May 19.

Before the hearing, BJP supporters, led by controversial legislator OP Sharma, chanted “Bharat Mata Ki Jai” outside court. Supporters of Mr Kejriwal’s Aam Aadmi Party or AAP replied with abusive chants against Mr Jaitley. The police drove away two bus loads of BJP supporters.
