“ Khammam district should stand in first place in Telangana state by implementing Haritha Haram programme effectively,” said Priyanka Varghese, Officer on Special Duty (OSD) at Chief Minister’s Office (CMO).
“Chief Minister’s aim is to see trees and colourful flowers on either side of highways giving pleasant experience while travelling,”. She sid that this programme belongs to each an every individual. . “As part of Haritha Haram, 40 crore seedlings would be raised and planted across the state,” she added.
3.81 crore saplings should be planted in Khammam district . Saplings should begin during June-July months of next year onwards. She said planting of saplings should be speeded up through Forest Department, DRDA, DWMA, Horticulture and Sericulture Departments, ITC, Singareni Collieries and other private companies.
Priyanka Varghese along with District Collector Dr K Ilambarithi and Conservator of Forests Anand Mohan has held a review meeting with officials at Pragna conference hall at the Collectorate on ‘Telangana Ku Haritha Haram’.
. “Efforts should be made to hand over works of nurseries to workers under MGNREGS,” she said. In order to reach targets 3.81crore saplings to motivate the programme successful.
“ Planting of one crore saplings would be handed over to Social Forestry Department Another one crore saplings would be given to ITC Paperboard at Bhadrachalam; 66 lakh saplings to DWMA and the remaining saplings to other Departments and private companies,” the Collector said.
Ilambarithi said that he was appointing Satish Kumar, who is DFO in Social Forestry Department, as nodal officer to give updated information to CMO. The DRDA Project Director Srinivas Naik, DWMA Project Director Jagath Kumar Reddy and other officials were present.
