The upcoming by-poll to elect the Medak Lok Sabh MP has been eyed as the ‘prestigious’ for every political party in the state. The seat that was won by Telangana CM K Chandrasekhar Rao in the general elections will go for a by-poll on September 13.
Meanwhile, the state ruling Telangana Rashtra Samithi has picked Kotha Prabhakar Reddy as the candidate.
Chairman of the Telangana Non-Gazetted Officers Association (TNGO, G Deviprasad Rao and Mynampalli Hanumantha Rao, who lost from Malkajgiri in the general elections, were also in the fray for ticket but Mr Reddy has been finalised to contest by the party chief KCR.
TRS is confident to win this seat as the party chief has vacated it to become the first CM of newly formed state Telangana.
Reportedly, Mr Reddy was aspiring to contest from Dubbaka Assembly seat in Medak in the state assembly elections held in April, but the party chief denied his candidature then.
