The techie hubs of Hyderabad, Madhapur, KPHB, LB Nagar, Vanasthalipuram and Saroornagar are known for providing residence to maximum number of techies in the city but the same areas have been growing as the safe hubs for criminals too. The increasing crime rate under the police station limits of these areas have become a matter of concern for the administration.
85 cases have been registered in KPHB alone in the last two months. 61 of them include offences like like house burglaries, thefts, chain snatching, automobile thefts etc. 55 cases have been registered in Saroornagar of which 55 are property offences. 56 cases in Vanasthalipuram, 52 cases in Chaitanyapuri and Hayatnagar each have been recorded in the past two months.
Though Cyberabad police covers a huge area, most focus of the department is attained by KPHB colony, LB Nagar and Madhapur zones.
A police official explains, “In Kukatpally, where a higher number of employees, including software professionals, reside, homes are often locked as the residents leave for work. This attracts offenders and more house break-in cases are reported here”.
56 motorcycles, 48 autorickshaws and one car were recovered along with two HB offenders, one rowdy sheeter, and 35 suspects in a search operation in Vanasthalipuram alone.
